Nurturing Research

Philosophy

‘Nurturing research’ is the tradition of EIPW. The goal is to pursue research for contributing to industrial science and technology; to training and development of fellow researchers; to fulfill the growing medical needs of the people at large.

Our R&D activities are focused on:

  • Development of new cost effective method for synthesis of APIs
  • Formulation with generics, biomolecules and living organisms
  • Formulation development with targeted drug delivery technology
  • Development of recombinant DNA technology products

Infrastructure

At EIPW, we have been carrying out R&D activities in our in-house laboratory since 1938. The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Govt. of India has recognized our laboratories since 1992, for our groundbreaking achievements and continuous progress in research and development over the years.

From basic research to product development, our well-equipped laboratories and its qualified technical and scientific staff are engaged in various pharmaceutically important areas like organic chemical synthesis, formulation of medicines, herbals, microbiology, biotechnology and development and validation of analytical methods. The center is equipped to research on a variety of dosage forms such as oral solid dosages, suspensions, liquids, topical creams, ointments, gels, ophthalmological preparations and nasal sprays for various indications.

Among the Indian drug companies, EIPW has been a pioneer in multi-steps drug syntheses. True to our tradition, developmental work on the synthesis of bulk actives is carried out with an eye towards cost effective and environment-friendly processes.

Pharmaceutical Division

A. Formulation Development

(i) Modern Medicine

The company’s major business interest is on formulation of pharmaceutical dosage forms with new bulk actives being launched at regular intervals. Apart from conventional dosage forms, the department is working on newer technologies like transdermal gels, sustained release products and other novel drug delivery systems.

(ii) Herbal Medicine:

A renewed interest, worldwide, in herbal products led to the launching of several such products in quick succession. Development work on several other products in the areas of lifestyle diseases management and home care products are nearing completion for commercialization.

B. Analytical Development

The department has a sophisticated instrumentation facility for:

  • Analytical process development
  • Stability study of formulated products and bulk actives

These processes are transferred to the Quality Control department for the production of quality products.

C. Packaging Development

We have also instituted a state-of-the-art packaging development laboratory, where expert packaging professionals constantly work to innovate new sustainable packaging ideas. The aim is to ensure better quality, extended shelf life and enhanced consumer convenience, while maintaining the identity and stability of the drug.

D. Pollution Control

We are always concerned for a pollution free environment. To achieve this objective, there have been continuous efforts towards implementing environment-friendly processes at every stage of research and production. Some of vital techniques have been successfully implemented in the effluent treatment plants of our factories.
